What's the difference between a dog trainer and a dog behaviourist?
A dog trainer and a dog behaviorist serve different roles when it comes to working with dogs, though their work can sometimes overlap.
A dog trainer primarily focuses on teaching dogs specific commands, skills, and manners. This includes things like sitting, staying, coming when called, walking nicely on a lead, and basic obedience. Trainers are especially helpful for puppy training, improving general behavior, or preparing dogs for sports and advanced tasks.
A dog behaviorist deals with more complex or deeply rooted behavioral issues, such as aggression, separation anxiety, phobias, or compulsive behaviors. Their work is more focused on understanding the underlying emotional or psychological causes of a dog’s actions.

If you feel it's the right fit, you're welcome to book a 1.5-hour initial training session where we’ll dive deeper into hands-on work and create a personalized training plan tailored to your dog.

Hi, I’m Sam!
Dogs have been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. From a young age, I was fascinated by different breeds and dedicated myself to learning everything I could about them. That early passion has grown into a fulfilling career spanning over nine years, working in boarding kennels and with a well-known animal welfare charity.
My training philosophy is rooted in empathy and understanding. I believe that successful dog training starts with educating owners about canine body language and communication. All training methods I use are based on positive reinforcement, creating a calm, enjoyable, and rewarding experience for both dogs and their humans.
Whether you're working on basic obedience, building confidence, or improving your dog’s focus, I’m here to support you every step of the way.
